Fostering Innovation: PROCEDIN at the European Innovation Ecosystems Workshop

On January 26th, 2023, the PROCEDIN Project took part in the workshop How Horizon Europe European Innovation Ecosystems Projects Support the New European Innovation Agenda in Brussels. Organised by the European Commission and hosted by Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, the workshop provided a platform to showcase the projects funded through the European Innovation Ecosystems Work Programme in support of the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA).

The workshop focused on the implementation of projects under the New European Innovation Agenda and the contributions made towards achieving its objectives. The Commissioner praised the efforts of all the participants, stating that the event showed a critical mass of projects working towards the implementation of the New European Innovation Agenda.

It’s the first time since 2010 that we have a document that articulates a comprehensive strategy for innovation in Europe. And this is crucial to our ambition, which is to unlock the innovation potential in Europe.

Mariya Gabriel

European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth

The New European Innovation Agenda aims to promote a coherent innovation performance across Europe by fostering collaboration between all innovation actors in the European regions. This is crucial in overcoming the barriers that hinder innovation cohesion and addressing contemporary challenges. The Commissioner emphasised the level of ambition needed to achieve these goals, as well as the importance of ensuring a seamless integration of innovation efforts across Europe.

PROCEDIN was announced as a flagship project, and Louise Knight (Project Coordinator), showcased that the objectives of the PROCEDIN Project are perfectly in line with the goals of the New European Innovation Agenda. It was highlighted that the project is focused on creating a favourable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, attracting the best talent, improving expertise in innovation procurement, promoting a circular, digital, and resource-efficient economy, strengthening regional innovation capabilities, and enhancing the overall innovation infrastructure through the provision of networks and learning opportunities.

Today’s event gives confidence that we have a critical mass of projects working towards the implementation of the objectives of the New European Innovation Agenda.
