The European Commission launched a new online tool, “Procurement for Buyers”, created to simplify public procurement processes for EU Member States. The tool, designed to be a user-friendly centralized hub, provides contracting entities with easy access to reliable information on international procurement rules, which includes both eligible and excluded countries based on trade sanctions.
By allowing users to enter details such as the procuring entity, subject matter, and estimated value, the new portal is a place to quickly find the eligible bidders to participate in procurement procedures, ruling out the need for other trade agreements consultations. Moreover, “Procurement for Buyers” tool is able to provide detailed information about the origin of products and services, ensuring that contracting entities are compliant with specific requirements, while also encouraging transparency and equity.
This new tool emerges to complement the already existing “Procurement for Suppliers” tool, which helps EU companies to determine their eligibility to bid for procurement contracts in third countries and, currently, it covers markets in Canada, Japan, and the United States, with plans to include more trading partners in the future.
These digital tools and resources developed by the European Commission underscores its goal of facilitating international cooperation and trade. For more information visit the website here.
