The PROCEDIN project held its last training session on the last Wednesday, 25 of September, under the theme: Integrating Strategic Public Procurement of Innovation in Course Materials.
The session, mainly dedicated to trainers and teachers of the procurement field, started with Valentina Schippers-Opejko’s, Responsible Public Procurement on behalf of the City
of Haarlem, presentation about PROCEDIN and its role in helping find innovation in public procurement. Additionally, Valentina focused on the current data bank that can be found on the project’s website, a series of different materials are on display and free of access to everyone who wants to enhance their knowledge on the topic.
“I’m also very proud to share with you the results we did as PROCEDIN consortium. We collected different existing data. (…) On our website, you see the resource bank that is divided in different parts and different topics. Resources for buyers and suppliers.”

After this introduction, the session continued with Esmee Peters, from University of Twente, giving the presentation on the main topic of the training, providing valuable insights on procurement as a career path and how to incorporate procurement in courses and trainings in order to prepare the students for that path.
To enrich the share, Esmee provided some real life examples from the university she’s currently working at, showcasing the process they went through to identify and cluster the learners of this field and how they could create opportunities for them in different learning levels.
The session continued with the presentation of the five components the speaker identified that should integrate a public procurement course, reminding that could also exist on their own integrating other existing courses being a complement to them “any of these five components separately could be included in a general course on procurement or general course of supply chain management or public administration.”
Several tips, steps and strategies were openly shared to help the attendees on their process as trainers, enabling them to create or upgrade their teachings in the procurement ground. PROCEDIN’s website was once again mentioned, due to the knowledge held there, “We have different documents that can guide you. So we have our whole course structure online but we also have advice modes for educators…”
As the training was coming to an end, Esmee provided some hints about Public Procurement as a career path, and once again provided real life examples.
This training session was the last one PROCEDIN held and finished with a flourish. During the project’s lifespan knowledge share was one of the goals and we can say this was successfully reached.
You can watch the full training session below and we encourage you to navigate on the website if you are looking to know more about Public Procurement and how to innovate in the field.
