Apply Now: European Innovation Procurement Awards

The European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) announcez the 2024 edition of the European Innovation Procurement Awards! This annual competition celebrates the most forward-thinking procurement initiatives from across Europe, recognising projects that drive innovation and address critical societal challenges.

The competition is open to participants from EU Member States and countries associated with the Horizon Europe programme. EISMEA is looking for a variety of innovation procurement initiatives, including:

  • Procurements of R&D: Projects that focus on research and development to create new products, services, or processes.
  • Procurements of Innovative Solutions: Initiatives that involve purchasing cutting-edge solutions to meet specific needs.
  • Programmes Triggering Multiple Innovation Procurements: Initiatives set up by procurers or policymakers to stimulate multiple innovation procurements within their city, region, or country.


This year, the awards feature two main categories:

  1. General Innovation Procurement Initiatives: Open to procurement projects from any sector, such as health, energy, security, and more. This category celebrates the broad impact of innovation procurement across various fields.
  2. Net Zero Transition Initiatives: Focused on projects that address the net zero transition challenge, highlighting efforts to promote sustainability and environmental goals.

The winners in each category can be rewarded with up to EUR 75 000.

To kick off this exciting event, EISMEA is hosting an online Info Session on 30 May from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST. This session will offer an overview of the competition, including application guidelines, eligibility criteria, and the benefits of participating. It’s an excellent opportunity to get your questions answered directly by the organisers.
