The acquisition of innovation by public and private organisations enables better and more efficient service delivery to citizens and customers. These organisations can acquire innovation via direct procurement from the market when a mature solution is available. However, frequently public and private buyers have unmet needs that require innovative solutions that are not yet in the market.
The InnoBuyer project, funded by the European Union, aims to become a testing ground and benchmark towards the implementation of a demand-driven methodology that brings together Challengers (public and private organisations) and Solvers (notably European Innovation Council-supported SMEs), to jointly co-create innovative solutions, and speed-up the process leading to a concrete innovation procurement.
The InnoBuyer Call for Challenger aims to select 15 public and private entities with unmet innovation needs, from any sector, to join the InnoBuyer programme that offers funding support, expertise, and connections, to speed-up all the steps from the identification of unmet innovation needs to the procurement of innovation, including the co-creation of solutions with innovative companies, in order to deliver better and more efficient services to citizens and customers.
What’s in it for procurers?
Public procurers can receive funding and support to:
- Identify needs within their organisation.
- Find innovative solutions that can solve their needs.
- Co-create solutions with innovators.
- Prepare an innovation procurement procedure for the adoption of the solution.
- Get funding for the process of up to €41.500 for the Challenger and up to €58,500 for the Solver.
Private procurers can receive funding and support to:
- Identify needs within their organisation.
- Find innovative solutions that can solve their needs.
- Get funding for the process of up to €20.000.
